Thank you, IB Americas July 26, 2011

I am now back in the office after flying back from San Antonio, TX for the International Bacclaureate Conference of the Americas. As always, it was a great conference: well organised, well hosted by the Marriott Riverside, with enthusiastic participants, inspiring speakers and friendly exhibitors.

San Antonio was a great choice of venue: a fun city with plenty to do – even if the temperature (100 degrees) was a little extreme for British constitutions…

Our stand was often busy with teachers, Heads and co-ordinators flicking through John Catt Educational books, with the recently-published Taking the MYP Forward prompting lots of interest from those already aware of 2009’s excellent Taking the PYP Forward.

For those asking the question, work has already begun on Taking the DP Forward and plans are in the pipeline for a series-concluding book on the IB Continuum in general.

Meanwhile, the IB World Schools Yearbook was well-thumbed by the end of the conference as co-ordinators eagerly checked to see whether their schools were correctly represented by the correct details – which, of course, they were… Work will soon begin on the 2012 edition of the Yearbook : if you are an IB school, keep an eye out for details on how to ensure you are correctly represented in the book and how to promote yourselves further with an enhanced profile.
