One of the features in the new-look Prep School magazine (autumn issue due back from the printers shortly: more news on that exciting relaunch next week…) was written by Loren Fenwick, head of art at Aldro School, sharing her experiences of organising trips with groups of prep school boys.

Reading about how rewarding it can be to lead school expeditions, we wanted to share with you a competition we were made aware of recently, being run by Outlook Expeditions, a UK provider of tailor-made youth expeditions.

To celebrate their tenth birthday the company are offering one lucky school the chance to win a ten-day expedition for ten students to Morocco in Easter 2011.

Over ten days, the students will explore Marrakesh top to bottom, hike through the High Atlas mountains of this beautiful country, discover the magic of a souk market and relax on picturesque beaches. Students will also be given the chance to travel to Essaouira to explore the ancient Portuguese fortress.

The winning teacher will have the chance to go on the expedition with the students, offering the individual an incredibly rewarding experience both personally and professionally.

As they told us: “Expeditions offer students the chance to travel and venture down paths they may not tread by themselves. There are a range of benefits from going on an expedition, most importantly offering an education outside the classroom, and giving young people the chance to gain leadership skills whilst having the time of their lives.

“Taking part in an expedition also offers an unrivalled opportunity for development and opens doors to successful futures. Students emerge from the expedition experience confident, focused, self-aware and with their sights firmly set on their futures.”

Teachers should visit Outlook Expeditions’ website, click on the competition button and list their top ten dream destinations to be entered into the prize draw. Closing date for entries is midnight 1st December 2010.
